How often will I meet with my mentee?

How often you meet with your mentee will depend on their goals expectations which will be matched with your availability and expectations. At a minimum, you will meet at least once a month, and up to once a week. Your meetings can either be in person, virtual or on the phone.

How long is the commitment?

The mentees have consistently had inconsistency in their life. Therefore, we ask for a 1 year commitment, unless the mentee expresses otherwise.

What is the goal/purpose of the relationship?

The relationship with the mentee is there to help them with the next step in life after foster care. Whether this means helping them prepare for a new job, applying to college, trying to understand what their options are.

Will I get reimbursed for any outings?

The quality time and mentorship you provide your Mentee is far more important than the amount of money you spend. That’s why we don’t encourage spending a lot of money during your meetings. The goal of the relationship is to help your Mentee with their future goals and aspire them to work towards the dreams they never thought would be possible. If you are going to spend money, we encourage you to seek out low-cost outings such as a coffee or lunch. If the cost is greater than 10 dollars you can seek reimbursement as long as the outing has been previously approved.

What is the typical age of a mentee?

The age range for the mentee’s are 15-22 years old.
